Graham & Kim Wed

April 30, 2009

The first wedding of the season was my nieces.  Kim and Graham have had a long distance relationship since he is from England.  Very soon after moving here, Graham had a job and they found a great apartment together.  They both waited a long time for this day to arrive and I know that the planning was a bit more challenging because of the distance.  It all worked out beautifully and I was so proud to see them both so happy.  I was not the official wedding photographer, so I had the opportunity to play “Uncle Bob” which was interesting.  Of course they knew that I would be taking pictures all weekend and it was fun to see my son all dressed up with his best wedding face on.

The church has one of the longest aisles that I’ve ever seen.  I loved this shot of Kim and her Dad during the rehearsal.

Then we moved on to The Colonial Inn in Concord for a fabulous dinner hosted by Grahams family.  My son decided to entertain his Grandparents.

My son thought that everyone needed a dance lesson.  I think that he had more fun than anyone.

Earth Day 2009

April 22, 2009

The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970, to raise awareness for the conservation of the world’s natural resources.  I know that I remember Earth Day as being “plant a tree day” while in elementary school.  It seemed like a hippy,” granola crunchy ” holiday to me at the time.  Thankfully for our children, we have become much more aware of the negative impact and consequences of our insatiable consumption on our Mother Earth.  Hopefully we are not too late.  We are only here for a short time and it is our responsibility to take care of our earth to leave it beautiful for our children.  I’m looking forward to stopping by my favorite garden center today to indulge in one of my favorite pastimes, gardening.  It’s a great day to go outside and appreciate Spring, wherever you are.

Go Humans Go!

April 13, 2009

We’ve just finished our Spring break from school.  Somehow, it’s been very hectic, with just enough work to prevent us from straying to far from home.  So after cancelling all of our reservations to Tahiti, (Yeah right! Dream on girl!), I resigned myself to take the time to do some fun day excursions when we could.  It actually ended up being a lot of running around with trips to the city, Mystic Seaport and Aquarium and just hanging with friends.   I’m glad to get back to work today as my busiest season is just starting and I have some exciting things to prepare for.  I loved Mystic Seaport and especially the Charles W. Morgan whaleship.  It is the last of it’s kind in existence,  built in 1841.  It is undergoing a three year renovation and is worth the trip to the Seaport alone.

I have yet to try one of these bike taxis.
