Summer Vacation!

August 15, 2010

I still have hours of work in front of me between cleaning, packing, organizing photo gear and the work that I need to bring on vacation, (Yep-have laptop will travel).  In fact, my family is already away and I will be joining them tomorrow and therefore out of the office until the 29th or 30th of August.  Yippee!  Before shooting yesterday’s wedding I spent two and a half hours at the DMV to replace our lost jet ski registration stickers.  So I’m headed back in time to the lake house, where no one cares if your bed is made and the most important trip to town is to buy gas for the water toys.  If you are a current bride and need to reach me, please feel free to call the mobile number.  Although service can be limited at the lake, I will be checking messages and emails daily.  Enjoy the rest of Summer everybody!

Connecticut Engagement Session-Sneak Peek

August 10, 2010

Libby and Keith really got into our engagement session (I just love that), and were ready with wardrobe changes, willing to travel and basically brought their inner “rock-stars” to the day.  I loved our location so much that I’ve already scheduled a bridal shoot there.  I can’t post the full day yet but it’s coming!

Wedding at The Carousel at Lighthouse Point, New Haven, CT

August 5, 2010

The Carousel at Lighthouse Point is officially my new favorite venue!  As Jennifer and Jonathan described the DIY details for their wedding to me, I’m certain that I felt butterflies of excitement.  I mean what’s not to love about this venue.  I’ve wanted to shoot here for a while, in fact the last time I had visited was just about the coldest day we had last Winter.  The carousel was built in 1916 and is a rare and exquisite example of American folk art.   Although there were more than 10,000 such carousels in operation in the 1920s, the Lighthouse Park Carousel is one of less than 100 in use today. This venue combines the chic elegance of a loft with a beachy (I want to go back to Summer camp) style.  Any venue that has a lighthouse, a working vintage carousel and gorgeous views of the ocean is heaven in my book.  What a fun night, I can’t wait to go back!  Congratulations Jennifer & Jonathan!

The girls looked on to help with jewelry choices.

Ahhhh…approval!

How fun is this place card table for a beach wedding,

And flip flops to keep the ladies comfortable!

I love the scale of this image.

Raise your hand if you like cupcakes!

The carousel almost steals the show.

A gorgeous sunset backdrop.
