Just google today’s date and you’ll come up with all kinds of interesting topics from popular wedding dates to Nostradamus predictions. I personally find it fascinating and spent this morning reading about Synchronicity, Healing and Awareness, The Law of Attraction and Manifestation, Yin and Yang and Numerology. A perfect day to announce a little glitch in my normal routine and to acknowledge a long standing debate;

Is one better than the other? Aren’t they really both just tools? So which one should I choose? Well the answer is definitely personal preference and somehow it just feels right for me to return to the Nikon camp in the New Year (we go way back to the Nikkormat SLR’s) . New Totally Rad Lightroom Presets Released!

O.K. so I know that not everyone is a photo geek the way I am, but I love tools that make my work look it’s best and save me time on my workflow. I’m a complete fan of all of Doug Boutwell’s “Totally Rad actions”. I own and regularly use all of them. From the original Totally Rad Photoshop actions to TRA 2- The Revenge and Dirty Pictures-Image Textures, I love them all. I was so excited when Doug started a TRA Recipes site and featured one of my images. Here’s the link to my blog post about that http://bit.ly/bxzOLm. Well he’s done it again and the long awaited Lightroom presets are here! Once again I am honored to have one of my images chosen for the samples on his site. Of course I picked up my copy of the presets the moment they were officially announced. 103 of them to be exact, most of them offered in several strengths. This will totally change how my clients see their online proofs and I’m really excited about it. I think that Lightroom users all over the world must be doing the happy dance. Congratulations to Doug for yet another fantastic achievement, that is besides the pilots license.

Happy Halloween!

I can’t believe how fast Winter seems to be coming. Most of my leaves are down and I’m just hoping to finish my Fall clean up before our first snow. I love Halloween. I totally wish that I was shooting a kooky wedding today. If I were getting married again, I think that I might consider doing it on Halloween. In fact, if you are a bride planning a Halloween wedding for next year, give me a call. I will definitely give you a special rate. More on that later. Today I went out into the woods with my new 50mm 1.2 lens. Wow, I’m so glad that I bought this. My woods looked like The Blair Witch Project revisited. Happy Halloween everyone with some images from today, and a few others that strike me from past shoots. I have to add in a bit of gore, it being Halloween and all. Trick or Treat!

Totally Rad Action Recipes Site Launches

I was thrilled to get an email from Doug Boutwell, the brains behind “Totally Rad Actions” regarding the recipe that I used to create one of my images. I then got a second email from him announcing the trarecipes.com site. I am so excited that my image made it to the site and that it is the first image on the page. Go check it out, spread the blog love and vote for my image. It’s all for fun. BTW, if you don’t own these photo shop actions yet, than I simply cannot imagine what you’re waiting for. I can’t live without mine.

Here’s my image which is of “Just Max” in the 9th ward of New Orleans this past October. The ravages of hurricane Katrina still very apparent.

Canon EOS 5D Mark ll

I’ve been wanting this camera ever since Canon announced it. I didn’t get in on the first round of available supply and really thought that I’d be waiting months to catch this in stock. While checking my email last night, I clicked on a B&H Photo email and just decided to try calling again. Their website has had this camera back ordered since its announcement. Somehow when my salesperson checked, his computer finally said “Now accepting orders”. WhoooHooooooo!!! SOLD! Could be a week, could be a month, but I am really popping out of my skin over this one. Check out Canons feature on Vincent Laforet and his video short “Reverie”. I’m inspired!
