I had a new experience while shooting a wedding a couple of weeks ago. My happy couple had just been married and marched gallantly down the aisle, all smiles in their recessional. They had just formed a receiving line when I looked over and happened to notice the next wedding party coming in through a side door to prepare for their ceremony. The groomsmen were primping and I couldn’t resist capturing the moment. As the second wedding was to begin shortly, I noticed some other activity going on in front of the alter. Some members of the Parish were preparing a power point presentation for yet a different event, obviously pressed for time and utilizing every available moment. This prevented us from doing any formal shots in front of the alter. In this case, It worked to our advantage as we had already photographed some beautiful ceremony images and had plenty of images of the front of the church. We chose to shoot in an alternate side location as well as the couple in front of the rear doors, which gave us a nice variety. But this got me thinking. I’ve often been in venues where there are several weddings happening at once, but I’d never experienced back to back weddings in a place of worship. Perhaps this is a good question to ask your clergyman while you are planning your ceremony.
